MANCHESTER, MI

Worth Repeating
201 East Main Street
Manchester, MI 48158-9312
(734) 428-9088

Worth Repeating is my absolute favorite resale store! Bargains and amazing finds abound in this unique thrift store. Only recently all their winter items were on sale at 80% off. I found a great Coldwater Creek dress during this sale, it was brand new, still had its $98 price tag on it. Worth Repeating had it on sale for $15 and then on clearance for 80% off!! Yahoo!

Worth Repeating is housed in the remodeled Manchester Mill.
The site was originally built as the local flour mill in 1826. The Manchester Mill suffered two fires and a flooding, milling operations ceased in 1981. The State of Michigan formally recognized the mill as the oldest operating business on the original site in 1976. Today it houses Worth Repeating and several other businesses.

The atmosphere is one of an upscale boutique, the wooden floors and post and beam construction lend a rustic yet classy ambiance. Worth Repeating is clean, the sales staff (all volunteers) are knowledgeable, friendly, and always inform their customers of the weeks sales. Each week they pick two tag colors to put on sale, one of the tags will usually be 30% off and the other 50% off. Clothes are organized and clean, I have no reserves about trying on the clothes, no gritty feeling that  you usually get at the Salvation Army thrift stores....

Welcome to Worth Repeating! This is the scene upon entering the store, isn't it welcoming?

Down this hallway you will find:

The Book Nook, cute cozy room.
Just beyond the Book Nook is this room full of household items, craft items, fabric, books, etc.

Nice selection of fabric and craft items, everything is so clean and neatly arranged. All books are $0.50. I will usually grab one and read it over a hot drink over at the Manchester Bakery, I have pics of that adorable little bakery for you.

                                                      Women's pants, shoes, and tops.

Here is the dressing room, they only have one but it is spacious and it locks! I was at another resale shop recently that only had a curtain on a ceiling mounted track! I didn't spend much time in there, I was afraid someone would brush up against the curtain, or peek in. I really appreciate safe dressing rooms with a lockable door.

Women's dresses, skirts, tops, and on the far wall they have a rack of capris for spring and summer. They also have a small selection of men's clothing.

The children's room, nice selection, clean, organized, well displayed.

I consider Manchester a more posh area so many of the clothes are name-brand and in excellent condition. I try not to buy from thrift stores that are reselling Walmart clothes, they just don't pass down as well as clothes from Hanna Andersson or Talbots.

A quick rundown of what you will find at Worth Repeating:
Purses, jewelry, women's/children's/men's clothing (by the way, they have a nice selection of plus sized clothes, not always easy to find) household items, shoes, some furniture (mostly nice antique pieces) books, some linens.

I have eaten here:

Black Sheep Tavern, nice atmosphere, good food, hit or miss service. First time I ate here the service was terrible, the second time was better.

I much preferred the Manchester Bakery:

The owner is a youngish mom of littles, so I enjoyed patronizing her business. It's a blend of a bakery, where all the local hang out, and a coffee house. Very cozy, clean, excellent service. All the baked goods are tempting, stay clear if pastries are your vice.

What a great local hangout, I always like to eavesdrop on what the locals are discussing while waiting for my sandwich.

To round out my visit to Manchester, I always stop and make a visit in the little church.

I would have taken pictures of the inside but Father was praying his Divine Office so I didn't want to disturb him. The interior though is just lovely. Here's the schedule below. If you need to make a good confession and get some serious, no-nonsense spiritual advice, see this priest! He'll set you straight. I warned you. :)
Enjoy Manchester!!!!

Oh! By the way, here's a link to Worth Repeating's Facebook page.

Next post I will review another favorite haunt of mine in Archbold, Ohio's Care and Share. Check back!

HOLLAND, MI

I was just blown-away by Bumble Bea's resale shop in Holland, MI! This store is the big momma of resale shops, amazing selection, store layout is well-ordered and easy to access, not your typical "thrift" store. You will forget you are shopping second-hand, the quality and atmosphere give the illusion you are shopping retail.

Someone cares a great deal about how their store presents!!

Selection is just amazing!
Above is the entrance to "The Hive" where the adult/teen clothes are found.

More pics from The Hive

Store and merchandise were clean, employees were friendly, they greeted us on arrival and informed us of the sales/specials for the day.

Two play areas for kids, we preferred the play area near the cash register, Thomas the Tank Engine track was set up here. Below is a pic of the playroom in "The Hive" area where adult/teen clothes are sold.

Bumble Bea's carries baby and children's clothes, teens, adults, great shoe and purse selection, excellent quality. Roomy, plentiful and clean fitting rooms.

We never need the restroom, so I can't rate Bumble Bea's in that respect.

Plan to make a morning or afternoon trip out of your time at Bumble Bea's, lots of restaurants nearby to recharge your batteries at and to squeal over all the great deals you found!
